The Caribbean island of Bonaire is home to some of the best shore snorkeling in the world. There is no shortage of locations for snorkelers of all ages and experience to enjoy on the island. There is no shortage of marine life to see at Bonaire. Surrounding the island is a magnificent, 6672-acre coral reef which has been protected since 1979 as an official Marine Park, meaning the coral and animal species of the ecosystem are thriving and waiting to be seen. The reef itself varies in depth, ranging from the water’s edge to around 32 feet, making it ideal for snorkelers of all levels. The reef itself is home to one of the most diverse population of fish in the Caribbean as well as the world. Frogfish, parrotfish, fire coral, tarpons, moray eels, sea turtles, and sometimes even dolphins or whale sharks make their home on the reef. Between the perfect shores and beautiful reef life, Bonaire is simply one place you cannot skip as a snorkeling destination.
