Looking for a private, secluded snorkeling destination? Try to imagine yourself snorkeling in crystal clear waters off of an uninhabited tropical island. Laughing Bird Caye is the perfect snorkeling spot for those with a more remote experience in mind.
Laughing Bird is a National Park of Belize and is located 11 miles off the coast. It is home to the Belize barrier Reef and has been protected as a park since 1981, which luckily means there is no shortage of animal and plant life to see. On land you will see various bird species which make their home on the island; turtles, spotted rays, parrotfish, lemon sharks, and lionfish are just some of the unique members of marine life here. Laughing Bird is also home to the “Coral Garden”, a section of the reef with various species of coral formations. The Coral Garden is an ideal spot for beginner snorkelers due to its calm and clear waters; the depth here ranges from 31-80ft with nearly perfect visibility.
Since the island itself is uninhabited and only visited by select groups of snorkelers, it makes for the perfect opportunity to escape from the public for a few hours and relax into the white sandy beaches and deep blue waters of paradise.
