One of the most popular snorkeling destinations in all of Oahu, Hanahamu Bay is located just outside Waikiki and is a top quality marine nature preserve. The bay is actually made up of a submerged volcanic crater which forms and outside barrier from rough waves. The water is shallow in most places and gets deeper more farther out. In the shallower areas, large amounts of coral can be spotted, which brighten up the ocean floor.  The water here is crystal clear and stunningly blue which contrasts the over 400 species of colorful fish located here, including the former State fish the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa. The fish here are incredibly people friendly and are perfect for getting up close pictures with.  In addition to the fish, Hanahamu Bay is home to species of turtles, eels, and other members of the marine community!
