As you ascend, it’s important to keep one arm pointing upward. This will prevent you from bumping unexpectantly into your friend or object on the surface. Remember to leave extreme stunts to athletes and the professionals. For you a few feet are all you need to fully enjoy everything the ocean has to offer. You shouldn’t stretch your dive beyond your limits. Learn not to over estimate yourself. As soon as you feel the need to breath- return to the surface immediately.

Ear plugs are fine for swimming at the surface, but they can be dangerous when snorkeling and more specifically when breath hold diving with snorkeling gear. They can cause very painful injuries.
